Murder of Crows
Book One of The Pillars of Dawn
When Fable Montgomery, Muse of Story, returns to Portland to settle her murdered aunt Celeste’s affairs she stumbles into a nefarious plot to capture and kill the Muses. The FBI agents, Drake and Mendelson, investigating Celeste’s homicide inform Fable she’s likely the killer’s next victim. Fable’s power allows her to see the great story of all things to come. She writes The Prophecy of Crows, but the last page foretells her own death at the hands of the murderer. Fable’s use of power draws the unwanted attention of evil factions bent on preventing the Muses from sharing inspiration with mankind. Fable’s power of story narrative is simply too dangerous to be left unchecked, or worse… given freely to everyday, ordinary folk.
The factions set out to hunt Fable down and capture if they can, or destroy if they must, before Fable can give her power, the freedom of narrative, to humanity. Fable’s home world, Aria, sends a part eagle/part man guardian, Liam, to protect her as she struggles to understand her power, find her aunt’s murderer, and rescue her sister Muses. When the battle for the future narrative of mankind spills through the veil between worlds, pitting FBI and mythological beasts, gargoyles and evil factions all against one another-- Fable must find a way to survive her own death as it’s foretold on page 239 of The Prophecy of Crows, because if the Muse of Story dies, all stories die with her.
